The Mueller vision of a diverse mixed-use urban village in the heart of Austin includes a variety of retail components—regional retail, the Mueller town center, and neighborhood-serving retail. Grocery retail, to serve both Mueller residents and the larger community, has been a key part of that vision, and the original Mueller master plan called for a grocery anchor in the town center. Since then, with the evolution of Mueller, of the Austin market, and of the grocery retail industry, the Mueller team is now considering a variety of options for how to best incorporate grocery at Mueller. In fall 2007, the Mueller Team held a town hall meeting attended by nearly 120 residents and neighbors to discuss these options and the factors influencing grocery retail at Mueller. This document summarizes the results and includes preliminary results from the grocery town hall survey.
