Mueller’s latest amenity, the skate park and cycle pump track, is scheduled to open in the newest phase of the Southeast Greenway on Thursday, Aug 11 at noon. The new facility will be accessible near Manor Road and Zach Scott Street near the upcoming Austin ISD Northeast Austin Middle School. Parkgoers can skateboard, inline skate and ride BMX bikes while also enjoying breaks under a colorful shade canopy that features restrooms and a water fountain.

Beyond the skate park and cycle track, the remainder of the Southeast Greenway opens for all on August 11. The 28.5-acre park also features a one-mile extension of Mueller’s hike and bike trail, a large open field, the already established pond that has become destination for birders and more than 450 trees, some of which a grove of mature post oaks that existed when the site was the municipal airport.

Designed by RVi Planning, the Southeast Greenway also features picnic areas, benches, drinking fountains, bike racks and a small lighted parking lot at Zach Scott Street near Manor Road. At Tilley Street, the greenway connects to another previously developed portion of the greenway, commonly referred to as “The Orchard” because of its collection of various fruit and nut trees.
